High school senior takes part in rural career development class PDF Print E-mail

Adams Bank & Trust sponsored Tyler Brott for the Rural Community Career Development Class.
Brott is a senior at Perkins County High School and is taking the class to help him develop his career plan before he furthers his education at Mid Plains Community College (MPCC).
The Rural Community Career Development class shows juniors and seniors the opportunities of good careers the county has to offer in hopes to entice them to return to the area.
The students review county and family history, analyze their career preferences, and identify where those careers are available in the county and can fulfill their interests.  The students then interview business owners and select mentors for the remainder of the course.
Upon completion of the course, the mentoring partnership can continue and hopefully adds another tie back to the county during their college career.
Brott enrolled in the diesel technology program at MPCC and upon graduation will return home to start his own business.
Southwest Nebraska Community Betterment Corporation continues to teach the Rural Community Career Development course through grant funding from Federal Home Loan Bank located in Topeka, Kan.  For more information on future classes, please contact Ann Burge, 308-352-4338.
