Final pesticide training now March 28
The last private pesticide education class for the SW4 extension area has been rescheduled to March 28 . The old date was March 30.
The class will start at 1 p.m. MT at the Imperial fairgrounds.
There is a $30 per person training cost for initial or renewal certification. Please bring both copies of the letter received from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture to the training if renewing certification.
This letter will be the form that goes into the state for certification. Those not bringing the letter will be required fill out new forms.
For those unable to attend any of the training dates, self-study packets are available at the local University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension office. The cost of the self-study course is $60 payable at the time the course is completed.
Following the certification meeting or the completion of the self-study course the information is sent to the state that a person completed pesticide training and that they are certified.
Once they are certified they need to become licensed. To become licensed they will receive a billing statement from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for their license fee.
The cost for a three-year private applicator license is $25. After the NDA receives payment the participant will be issued a license. They will not be considered licensed to apply pesticides until the license has been issued the NDA.
Call the local extension office or Robert Tigner, SW4 Extension Educator at the Chase County office with any questions.
