The Wallace Wildcats are  preparing for the 2011 track season, with their first action coming on Saturday, March 26,  in Hershey at the Hershey/St. Pat’s Invite.
Other teams that will be competing in the meet include:  Anselmo-Merna, Brady, Hershey, Maxwell, Mullen, Paxton, Sandhills-Thedford, South Loup, North Platte St. Patrick’s, Stapleton-McPherson Co., and Sutherland.  The meet will begin at 10 a.m.
The Wildcats have a squad of 10 boys and 11 girls, including seven seniors, five juniors, three sophomores, and six freshmen.
One weakness for the team is depth and the fact that Wallace won’t have athletes in all events.  However, experience should be a strength for the team this year.
Senior Sean May returns as the 2010 200 M champion in the Republican Plains Activities Conference (RPAC) and D-10 District.  The district champion 400 M Relay team of May, Shawn Christensen, Lane Swedberg, and Ryan Sowle are also back for another year.
The Wildcats have been working hard at practice and have shown good attitudes and enthusiasm when it comes to what events they might compete in over the course of the season.  Some athletes will probably try a variety of events.
The coaches are looking for leadership from the seniors and returning letterwinners.  Coaching the Wildcats will be Elizabeth Strand, Kory Rohde, and Ralph Swedberg.
