PCHS speakers finish as district runners-up PDF Print E-mail

In a field of nine schools including Bayard, Dundy County-Stratton, Garden County, Hemingford, Maxwell, North Platte St. Pat’s, Southwest, and Sutherland, PCHS speakers finished as District Runners-Up in the C2-6 District Speech Meet held in Benkelman on Wednesday, March 16.
In a single round elimination with the top six entrants from two preliminary rounds advancing to finals, both Dundy County-Stratton and Perkins County advanced 12 events into the round which determined state qualifiers.
In Class C, the top three contestants advance to the state contest scheduled for March 24-25 with Class C2 competing on Friday.
According to district rules, each team is limited to two entrants in each of the nine events.
PCHS results for the day: Informative–Kristin Beck 4th, Rebecca Cornelius 5th; Persuasive–Michi Prante 6th, Kylie Hanson (Superior); Entertainment–Lacey Jensen 1st, Alison Kiolbasa (Superior); Extemporaneous–Trevor Lee 3rd, Michael Dreiling (Superior); Poetry–Calla Mailand 2nd, Lexi Schmidt 5th; Humorous Prose–Brady Mailand 5th, Ashley Kemling 4th; Serious Prose–Calla Mailand (Superior), Ashley Kemling (Superior); Duet Acting–Lacey Jensen and Rachel Patrick 2nd, Elliot Carlson and Jessie Woodmancy (Excellent); OID–Jeremy Hagan, Michael Dreiling, Jake Sexson and Michael York (Superior); Trevor Lee, Quinton Hite, Colton White, and Elliot Carlson (Superior).
PCHS speakers tallied 104 team points while Dundy County-Stratton earned 121. North Platte St. Pat’s finished in third place followed by Maxwell in fourth.
