FSA Scoop...Deadline reminders for producers PDF Print E-mail

By Mary Karash
County Executive Director
Farm Service Agency, Grant, NE

Aug. 1 is the final date to accept a completed FSA-155 for Fiscal Year 2011 for farm combinations or farm divisions for a farm with base acres.
I want to remind producers that the final date to submit an application for payment under the 2009 Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payment (SURE) Program is July 29.
The SURE program provides financial assistance for crop production and/or quality losses due to a natural disaster.
Nebraska has paid out approximately $14 million in SURE funds for 2009.
Approximately 1100 applications have been processed in Nebraska. Producers in counties that were declared a 2009 Secretarial Disaster (Perkins) and any county contiguous to those counties may be eligible if they suffered a 10 percent loss or greater on any crop of economic significance.
Producers in counties that were not declared a Secretarial Disaster or are not contiguous to such counties would qualify if they had over a 50 percent loss. Please contact the office as soon as possible to make an appointment if you think you qualify for a payment and have not received a SURE payment.
The office is trying to set up appointments for producers to report their spring planted crops. We still have producers who have not reported their wheat acres and the deadline
for that is June 30.
We do have provisions to run a register, but the producer must request to be put on that register. Call NOW to be on the register or late filed provisions will apply with a cost applied. If you do not get a postcard or a phone call, please call the office for an appointment.
Reminders:
• Call before breaking up sod, clearing trees or wetland issues.
• Provide weed treatment spray tickets for CRP acreages.
• Return all paperwork mailed to you as soon as possible with all necessary signatures.
