Mid-Plains Community College’s 1972 Dodge Challenger will be on display in North Platte, Sutherland and Grant this weekend.
The hot rod is scheduled to be at the Lincoln County Raceway at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. It will also be on display at Sutherland’s Independence Day activities from 8 a.m. to noon on July 4, and at the Grant Car Show from 1-6 that afternoon.
Raffle tickets are $10 each and no more than 6,000 will be sold. The car will be raffled at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at Colonel Cody’s Cruise Show and Shine in downtown North Platte. This will be the seventh car raffled by the college, with the proceeds used for student scholarships and to purchase the next raffle car.
This year’s 1972 Dodge Challenger sports a late-model 360 Magnum motor with a 727 transmission and 355 Posi-Track rear end. Features include air conditioning, a “Plum Crazy” purple finish and freehand pin-striping by Mike Smith.
Tickets are available wherever the car is on display and at the following locations in North Platte: Auto One, Advance Auto Parts, Bob Spady Buick-GMC, Cohagen Battery Store, Grandma’s Memories Antiques & Collectibles, Isabell’s Auto Center, A.J. Janas, Jody’s Auto Sales, Mid-Plains Auto Finishes, Modern Muffler, The Car Doctor, Twin River Body Shop, NPCC North and South Campuses (front office), McCook Community College (front office) and Larry’s Barber Shop in McCook.
