Deer permits available July 11 on Game and Parks website
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will begin selling deer permits on July 11 at 1 p.m. CDT.
Permits can be purchased online at OutdoorNebraska.org or at Nebraska Game and Parks Commission offices.
Richard Nelson, district wildlife manager, advises that an easy and reliable method to purchase a firearm deer permit is online at the commission’s website OutdoorNebraska.org by clicking on “Buy a Permit” at the top of the home page.
First, deer hunters must select the deer management unit they desire to hunt.
One unit permit choice is a Platte WT or Frenchman WT permit which allows the take of any white-tailed deer and a bonus tag for an antlerless white-tailed deer.
The other permit choice is the Frenchman MDCA or Platte MDCA permit which allows the take of a mule deer or a white-tailed deer with a bonus of an anterless white-tailed deer.
Platte and Frenchman MDCA permits allow the harvest of a mule deer or white-tailed buck in the hunter’s season of choice including archery, muzzleloader or firearm seasons.
To accomplish mule deer conservation and management in the Frenchman and Platte Units, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has limited the number of mule deer permits authorized in southwest Nebraska.
The Frenchman MDCA permits are a high demand deer permit which “sold out” in 72 hours last year, and will likely be a high demand deer permit in 2011.
Deer hunters are limited to one Frenchman MDCA and one Platte MDCA permit.
Frenchman and Platte mule deer hunters are reminded to purchase a deer permit promptly on or after 1 p.m. CDT on July 11 at OutdoorNebraska.org
