Chamber legislative summit is Aug. 11 PDF Print E-mail

Nebraska residents are invited to learn more about important issues being debated by state and federal policymakers during the “Chamber Legislative Summit” set for Aug. 11 at the Strategic Air and Space Museum near Ashland. The SAC Museum is right off Exit 426 on Interstate 80.
Once again, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry is co-hosting this event along with the Lincoln, Omaha and Bellevue chambers of commerce.
On the morning of Aug. 11, the Legislative summit will being at 8 a.m. (CT), when attendees will be able to network with other Nebraskans during the chamber of commerce coffee. Later in the morning, participants will hear from members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation. U.S. Senators Ben Nelson and Mike Johanns, along with U.S. Representative Lee Terry, Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith, have been invited.
Lunch will be served, followed by a keynote speech from Frank Newport, Ph.D., editor-in-chief of the Gallup Poll–the nation’s best-known and longest-running monitor of American public opinion. Dr. Newport, who appears regularly on CNBC’s “Kudlow and Company” and other news shows, will provide a political lay of the land as the nation prepares for the 2012 elections.
The summit will conclude by 1 p.m. For attendees who wish to stay through the afternoon, a young professional’s summit will feature remarks from Gov. Dave Heineman and information on how young leaders can become more involved in their communities.
