Artbeat...Art gallery celebrates Christmas in July
By Shari Friedel
Snuggling up in a quilt with a cup of hot chocolate is the last thing on everyone’s mind in the heat of summer, but any time of year is a good time for treating oneself to the lovely stitched creations by the local quilt guild.
It’s Christmas in July at Meadowlark Gallery as Grant’s Quilted Leaf Quilt Guild members share Christmas quilts at the gallery located at 246 Central Avenue in Grant, and the public is invited to view the latest show from 6-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings.
The club organized in September of 1991 with 13 original members. Members meet once a month on Saturday, at the Midwest meeting room in Grant, sharing their sewing skills, ideas and advice.
Not only do the women build beautiful heirloom pieces for display or use, they build lasting friendships as well.
The group is led by Pennie Reese, facilitator and organizer; JoAnn Shultz, mystery quilt coordinator; and Susan Hanson, who acts as webmaster.
