Candlelight vigil to honor Corrie Wood
By Jan Rahn
The public is invited to honor and celebrate the life of Corrie Wood on Saturday, Sept. 17 when a candlelight vigil will be held at Grant City Park.
The vigil marks the three-year anniversary of Wood’s unsolved murder on Sept. 20, 2008.
The gathering is scheduled from 6-10 p.m. with a theme of “light a candle for justice,” and will include a barbecue and music.
Candles will be provided.
Proceeds from a free-will donation for the meal will go toward a newly established Corrie Wood foundation.
Wood, who was 28 when she died, was a Chase County High School graduate.
She is the daughter of Jerry Wood and Karen Wood of Imperial.
Her daughter was four years old at the time of her death.
