Band gives excellent performance in McCook PDF Print E-mail

Forty wind and seven percussion musicians in the Perkins County marching band performed in the McCook Heritage Day parade Saturday, Sept. 24. Accompanying the musicians were six flags and a majorette.
With their rendition of “Baby” by Justin Bieber, the band received high praise from the judges.
“We received an excellent rating but were beaten by a very sharp-looking McCook band,” said Sheila Johnson, Perkins County band instructor.
Following the parade, the Perkins County band entertained a crowd in the park with a short concert.
“I like doing the concert in the park as it is the only time some of our athletes get to play pep band. It is fun for us and gets the Perkins County Band out there for people to hear,” Johnson said.
The next opportunity to experience the band is Tuesday, Oct 4 at the high school football field, where they will put on a field show for the Homecoming pep rally.
