University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Sire Selection and Cow Herd Management Clinics will be offered across the state Oct. 25-27.
Dates and locations are as follows:
Oct. 25 Kearney Buffalo County Extension Office at 4 p.m.
Oct. 26 - Ord - Valley County Extension Office at 10 a.m.
Oct. 26 - Broken Bow - Custer County Fair grounds at 4 p.m.
Oct. 27 - North Platte – North Platte Livestock Auction at 10 a.m.
Oct. 27 - McCook - Kiplinger Arena (Red Willow County Fair grounds) at 4 p.m.
For the morning programs, registration will be from 10– 10:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 10:30 a.m. For the afternoon programs, registration will be from 4–4:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Topics and speakers for the educational programs will be, “The Genetic Toolbox: EPDs, Indexes & DNA Markers,” Dr. Matt Spangler, beef genetics specialist, UNL; “Management Tips to Increase Profit Potential,” Dr. Rick Rasby, beef specialist, UNL; and “Body Condition Scoring,” Dr. Rick Rasby, and Dr. Matt Spangler.
Cows will be available for the body condition scoring presentation.
Early registration for the North Platte site is $20, which includes meal, materials and proceedings, and is due by Oct. 24.
