Chamber’s spotlight is on Adams Bank and Trust, November’s business of the month.
During the regular business meeting last Thursday, employee Mindy Dickinson presented fellow Chamber members with background history on the bank which is located at the corner of 2nd and Central in Grant.
Adams Bank and Trust was founded in 1916 by G.D. Adams who gave up railroading with Union Pacific to open the first bank in Lemoyne.
In 1934 the Lemoyne State Bank was moved to Brule during the time Lake McConaughey and Kingsley Dam were being constructed.
Focusing on a solid commitment to the community and region, Adams Bank continues to be one of the largest agriculture banks in the nation.
“The same factors that were originally created in 1916 continue to still hold strong today,” said Dickinson.
Adams Bank and Trust is a five-generation bank. Serving as chairman emeritus is Mel Adams, Jr. Todd Adams is the chairman CEO and Chad Adams is president/legal counsel. Melanie Washa, sister to Todd and Chad, joined in July 2008 and is the call service specialist heard on the other end of the line when customers call the bank.
In June 2011 Amanda Adams Fanning joined the team, serving as the senior activity manager and deposit compliance officer. She is the daughter of Todd Adams and represents the fifth generation of the bank.
Adams Bank and Trust is approaching 100 years of service to customers and has successfully grown from one bank of only a few employees to 15 banks, said Dickinson.
There are 10 banks located in southwest Nebraska with the other five in Colorado. There are currently 185 employees of Adams Bank and Trust along with Western Insurors.
“Adams Bank and Trust continues to offer family banking traditions, financial products that are some of the most competitive in the industry and the highest customer service we were originally founded on,” concluded Dickinson, who has been employed as financial service rep and personal banker at the Grant location since April 2010.
