Tanya Metcalf slipped two  short jumpers through triple-team defenses and scored eight Lady Plainsmen points in a row to jockey Perkins County out of a 20-16 game onto a 49-27 rout over the Lady Broncos in Wauneta Friday night.
The Lady Plainsmen have won seven consecutive games.
The senior forward Metcalf led all scorers with 17 points, 10 of which contributed to a 20-3 third quarter thumping of Wauneta-Palisade.
Not limited to work around the basket, Tanya Metcalf nabbed an interception and escorted it home to give Perkins County a 26-18 lead in the third quarter.
Abbie Fanning’s two free throws actually gave the Lady Broncos a 13-9 second quarter lead.
That lead galloped away, however, after Shalee Pollard quickly jacked up a three pointer from the left corner for a 15-13 Perkins County advantage.
Junior guard Michi Prante nailed down the Lady Plainsmen’s road win with six quick points in the third quarter. Prante dropped an eight-foot jumper to the bottom of the barrel, and got a putback and free throws after grabbing three offensive rebounds.
Prante finished with 10 points, marking the second game in a row that she reached double figures.
The Perkins County defense did not allow the Lady Broncos more than eight points in any one quarter.
Matisyn Humphrey iced the win with a run-out bucket and a nice putback launched from behind her right hip. The junior forward Humphrey put together six Perkins County points.
Sheyla Christner created her own three-point play in the first quarter and led the Lady Broncos with eight points.
