Legion Auxiliary holds February meeting PDF Print E-mail

The Grant American Legion met Feb. 14, 2012 at Westview with 15 members and two guests present.
Loretta opened the meeting followed by an opening prayer by Chaplain, Clem. The flag salute and preamble were recited. Roll call of officers was taken, secretary’s minutes and treasurer’s report were given.
Treasurer Trudy reported that 56 members had paid dues with six still unpaid.
Girls State recipient Ashley Kemling, gave a talk on what went on for the Girls and Boys Staters when they were there. Legion members found it very interesting and informative.
President Loretta read a letter on the District 5 meeting to be held in Wallace on March 4 at 9 CT. Members are encouraged to attend.
Auction items will be taken for the auction that benefits the Scottsbluff veterans home. Katie gave a report on choosing Girls State for Grant and Venango for the next term. Reenie Mercier was appointed Americanism chairman.
President Loretta closed the meeting with a prayer by Chaplain Clem Hansen and a delicious Valentine Day lunch was served by Gladys Tharp.
The next meeting will be at the Legion Hall on March 13 at 6 p.m. with a pot luck celebrating the Legion’s birthday.
