Pack your veggies in sand for winter

A $2,500 reward was offered for a lead on golf course vandalism. Destruction of the course had put a damper on the eagerness of those who were ready to get the game underway last spring.
Elsie girl turns heads in the modeling world. The community of Elsie and all of Perkins County proudly lay claim to being a part of the village that raised Carlie Sis, a beautiful 21-year-old who is pursuing modeling and acting, gaining experience and exposure in magazines, department stores and commercials.

A published narrative history of the building of Kingsley Dam and formation Lake McConaughy may be the ideal coffee table book for fans of history, water, and photography. At least that’s the goal for Perkins County resident and author Robert Richter. He is nearing the publication date of mid-May for his new book entitled “Lake McConaughy: A Geographic Portrait.”

Within the next few weeks Perkins County Community Hospital will form a hospital foundation/endowment fund to help finance future medical and building projects. Don Benge, hospital administrator, said Thursday the formation of a foundation/endowment fund is being done to “insure the future” of the hospital.

Grant FFA took three blues in judging contest. Thirty local Voc-Ag boys entered seven events at the annual District 7 judging contest held at Curtis. This group won 3 events and finished 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th. There are twelve Voc-Ag departments from the District 7 area of Nebraska.
The “Whisker Committew” contisting of Frank Tharp, Jack Slagle and Frosty Benge met with the Chamber of Commerce board members to discuss that all members of Perkins County are urged to start their beards by April 1st. For the fair three cash prizes will be given to contestants entering the contest in which their beards will be judged in one of three divisions.
