Area residents are invited to “Walk The Walk” —an evening of walking, sharing, dedicating and remembering those who have been afflicted by cancer.
Hosted by Thunder on the Highline, this fundraising event with luminaries will be held Wednesday, July 11 prior to movie night in Grant City Park.
Luminary bags will be available near the band shell for a donation of $10 each which can be decorated on the spot. Once purchased and decorated, they will be set and lit along a pathway at the park.
Anyone can participate—come view the luminaries and reflect on the many lives touched by cancer in the area.
The proceeds, along with the luminaries, will be taken to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event in Ogallala set for July 20.
Luminary sales, decorations and donations will take place from 6:30-7:30, a short presentation will follow, and the “Walk The Walk” is scheduled from 8-9:30 p.m.
No one is obligated—it is optional whether to purchase a luminary, walk the course, or watch the free movie—but everyone is welcome and it is an opportunity for the communities in Perkins County to come together in support of the fight against cancer.
