|An Evening of Hope|
The band shell in Grant City Park served as a backdrop for luminaria that lined the sidewalk and flowerbed last Wednesday night during a cancer benefit event sponsored by “Thunder On The Highline—Perkins County’s own version of Relay For Life. Emcee Bob Cummings, a longtime survivor, gave a short talk prior to a walk around the park. (Photos by Jan Rahn)
Many of the bags by the band shell were in memory of cancer victims; many others were in honor of survivors—a reminder to keep up the fight by supporting and raising funds for American Cancer Society research and victim advocacy.
Organizers (l-r): Marlene Pritchett, Toni Wyatt, Rhonda Kroeker and Deb Hansen assist Lou Tietjen in decorating a luminaria bag that was set and lit prior to the program and walk at Grant City Park last Wednesday evening.
