Changes, expanded hours, welcome diners and shoppers to Senior Center
By Trish Stever
P.C. Senior Center Director
The Senior Center has had a lot of activity lately. New flooring was installed in the kitchen and dining room area the week of July 23. The new floor makes the center look so bright and cheery.
Sherry Krause spent a lot of time decorating the 4th of July tree. There are over 300 stars on the tree representing the men and women of Perkins County who have served our country. Please stop by and see if you recognize any of the names. It has been great to hear the stories as visitors recognized themselves, a loved one or a friend represented on the tree.
The Thrift Shoppe continues to offer various household items, clothing, shoes and much more. The Thrift Shoppe will be open the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Aug. 4. Stop in and check out the ever changing items the store has to offer.
As a reminder the shop is opened on Mondays from 1to 4p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 9a.m. to 4p.m. (we no longer close over the lunch hour). The store is staffed with friendly volunteers that will always greet you with a smile.
On Monday, Aug. 13, the Senior Center will be holding a Volunteer Appreciation Day and Community Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will be serving pie and coffee to show our appreciation to the volunteers who keep the center up and running and to the community for supporting us. Donna Lou Plus Two will also be entertaining that day starting at 11 a.m.
As always, delicious and nutritious meals are served every weekday Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 11:30 and Wednesdays at 11a.m. There’s no need to call in the day before, just let the center know you’ll be joining us the same day.
We also offer card games, pool playing, shuffleboard, and other activities.
