After a great Perkins County Fair and 125th celebration, we look back on what we could do differently for next year. I also find what mistakes or mind slips are made during the week. Even with months of preparation, it’s never perfect. Always some last minute decision to make and quick fixes to be put into place.
This year I made a big mistake in the talent show awards ceremony. I announced the winning act placements and the prize money amounts, but when I did that, I announced the wrong amounts of cash prizes. This has apparently put some contestants into a difficult situation.
So, correct award amounts are $100 first place, $50 second place and $25 for third place in two divisions. I announced exactly double that, forgetting the total amounts were divided into two categories. This was entirely my fault as I am the one who announced the wrong amounts. No one received more money than others and our budget for the talent show stayed under $500 including sound and lights.
Thanks for your continued support of the fair and especially the talent show. See you next year.
