Take to the high seas with the Perkins County High School drama department as the swashbuckling adventure, “Lady Pirates of the Caribbean” is staged Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. in the high school multipurpose room.
The musical was written by Craig Sodaro with music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur.
In the story, a band of lady pirates takes on the local government on the Caribbean island of Parrot Isle.
A chest of gold intended for orphans is stolen and Esmeralda (Elizabeth Krajewski) and her band of lady pirates set out to unravel the mystery.
Meanwhile, the governor, Don Juan Futon (Colton White) and his niece Lucretia (Lacey Jensen) try to keep the island afloat in spite of the antics of Yoho Hokum (Ty Summers) and his band of buccaneers. Who will walk the plank and become food for the sharks?
Nine lively songs will have toes tapping in the audience, including “Lady of the Sweet Trade,” “Ghost Ship in the Night,” and “A Full House in the Dungeon.”
