Rachel Patrick, a senior at Perkins County High School, was selected as the Senior of the Month for September 2012.
She is the daughter of Miguel and Alicia Patrick of Grant.
Patrick has excelled in many areas of academics and extracurricular activities throughout her high school career, with a special interest in the area of drama.
She has participated in cheerleading, volleyball and track; band, chorus, one act plays, musicals, spring plays and speech and mock trial.
She has held a class office and is a member of National Honor Society and student council.
Outside of school, Patrick has been involved in 4-H, and has volunteered at blood drives and benefits, Einstein Academy, church related events at the United Methodist Church in Grant, was a youth basketball coach, has done landscaping at the middle school, collected for the food pantry, was a swim team coach, and has been involved in several community play productions.
Her employment includes five years at Country Gardens Greenhouse and three years as a lifeguard at the city pool.
She was selected to attend Rotary Youth Leadership camp in 2011 and was a counselor in 2012.
Patrick considers selection as senior of the month a “huge honor,” and a great way for the community to get to know the students and their activities in high school.
Following graduation, Patrick plans to enroll at Nebraska Wesleyan to study educational psychology and administration.
For being selected Senior of the Month, Patrick’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and she will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank of Grant and members of the community.
