The American Legion Auxiliary met Oct. 9 at Westview with 14 members present. President Loretta opened the meeting and Chaplain Clem gave the opening prayer followed by the group reciting the flag salute and preamble. Roll call of officers and minutes of previous meeting were read and approved by Secretary Jean. It was voted to retain the same officers for the year as the previous year.
Treasurer Trudy gave the treasurer’s report and reported on the membership for the year which was 62 members. However, we have recently lost two  members, Katy Carlson and Dorothy Sexson. We have seven Life Members. Trudy reminded everyone that 2013 dues are now due. To date 18 have paid. President Loretta reported on the Auxiliary STAR newspaper and how it would be changed. There was no old or new business.
Roxie Lampmann gave a most interesting lesson on Americanism and gave everyone a quiz paper with some of the questions foreigners must answer before becoming an American citizen. She also talked on her early childhood and why she joined the Auxiliary.
A delicious lunch was served by Loretta. The next meeting will be Nov. 13 at the hall and boxes will be packed for Thanksgiving. Dolores Sides and Estaline Waterman are in charge of the meeting.
