Sandhills orchestra giving concert Nov. 4 PDF Print E-mail

The Sandhills Symphony Orchestra is performing one of its two winter concerts Nov. 4 at the high school performing arts center in North Platte.
The theme of this fall’s performance is a tour of American music. Patrons will recognize many of the traditional American tunes, ranging from folk music to some classics.
Carmen Allen is the new conductor. She has long been a member of the symphony and is lending her extensive experience as composer, college music instructor and music director to the organization.
The symphony is an all-volunteer organization. Members come from as far south as Imperial, west from Kimball, and throughout west central Nebraska.
The symphony will provide at least one scholarship to a local college student who has played with the orchestra and accepts donations for that purpose as well as maintaining a music library and other costs of running the organization, which is non-profit.
