The National Honor Society (NHS) at Perkins County High School will host a blood drive at the school on Wednesday, Nov. 21—this blood drive replaces the November drive at New Life Fellowship Church and is being held at school in memory of Michael Dreiling and Katie Rowley, both of whom were NHS members.
The American Red Cross bloodmobile will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main gym. They will be able to accommodate up to 75 donors that day.
The Red Cross will pay the NHS approximately $8 per donor.
The proceeds will go toward the Dreiling and Rowley Memorial Scholarship Fund.
All students who wish to donate blood must pick up a waiver from the high school office and return it with a parent’s signature. Students as young as 16 are eligible to donate blood.
The public is also invited to donate blood. To schedule an appointment, contact Deanne Bishop, NHS adviser at the school 352-4735, her cell phone 352-8231, or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Anyone who is unable to donate blood but who would like to contribute to the cause can consider pledging money for others to donate blood.
Individuals who have already set up a donation time for the November bloodmobile will have their appointment honored, and those individuals will be contacted for confirmation. This blood drive replaces the one at New Life Fellowship Church for the month of November.
Pledge forms may be picked up at school. Monetary donations can be given to Deanne Bishop or the high school office.
A donation jar will also be placed at the gym entrance on the day of the blood drive. Checks should be made out to the Dreiling and Rowley Memorial Scholarship Fund.
