Approximately 100 students from Chase County, Dundy County, Wallace, Perkins County, Medicine Valley, Cambridge, Elwood and Arapahoe competed in the various STAR events for District 11 FCCLA.
STAR events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR events offer individual skill development and application of learning through cooperative, individualized and competitive events.
In cooperative events teams work to accomplish specific goals, in individual events a member works alone to accomplish specific goals and in the competitive events an individual and or team performance is measured by an established set of criteria.
Kylie Hanson and Alexis Schmidt of Perkins County competed as a team in the Senior High Advocacy Event and received a Top Silver medal. This qualified them to compete at State FCCLA STAR in April in Lincoln.
Perkins County students Jasmin Walkinshaw and Renae Goodwin competed in the Parliamentary Procedure Test Junior High category. They received bronze medals in their competition.
