A successful year was recapped for Perkins County Chamber at their recent banquet held Jan. 31 at Westview Retirement Community in Grant.
A highlight for 2012 was celebration of the county’s 125th anniversary, which was commemorated with special events throughout the year, including burial of a time capsule, Fourth of July celebration, the Perkins County Fair, Christmas Open House, and several unique collectors items for sale.
The annual banquet was well attended, with two special groups recognized for their dedication to their communities and to Perkins County.
Members of the 125th committee who worked tirelessly in planning the celebration attended the banquet and were presented with plaques of appreciation by Chamber.
The other organization recognized for its service was the Grant Volunteer Fire Department. A few of the members were present to accept the annual award from Chamber as Outstanding Organization of the Year.
Prior to the evening’s meal and formal presentations, a video was shown with many depictions of the Grant Fire Department’s efforts in serving and saving residents of Perkins County.
Individual awards presented by Chamber included  an Outstanding Citizen award that went to Dee Ann Tatum for her dedication within the Perkins County Area Arts Council and directing her talents toward community betterment.
Outgoing Chamber President Bernie Deaver received a plaque award as Outstanding Chamber Member. Deaver served back-to-back stints as president and has now turned the gavel over to incoming president Andi Tatum.
Chamber committee chairs gave reports, the year-in-review and treasurer’s report were presented, along with installation of new officers and board members.
The evening’s  program consisted of a slide presentation by Chris Loeffler, Perkins County zoning administrator, and Dennis Demmel, planning commission member, on survey results from residents of the county.
Officers for 2013 include Andi Lee, president; Jill Barry, vice president; Dawnya Dreiling, treasurer and Brenda Metcalf, secretary.
Board members are Tiffany Long, Jessie Faber, Tarra Terry and Stara Chandler-Smith.
