Wallace recently welcomed Cory Orr, new pastor leading the congregation at Wallace Community Church, and his young family to the community.
The church was formerly led by Hamlet Union Church pastor Kevin McGraw, who divided his time between the two communities as he was helping the new congregation to get established approximately one year ago.
Orr, who has been the congregation’s first full time senior pastor since the first of February, grew up in Newton, Iowa, graduating from Newton Senior High School in 2002.
He attended Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minn., and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian ministry.
The seven years following his graduation from college led him to Plainsboro, N.J., where he was Next Generation assistant pastor at Princeton Alliance Church; Colorado Springs where he was associate pastor of youth and young families at Clayhouse Church; and Elk River, Minn, where he was youth pastor at Church of Hope.
He has been married to wife Amy for 10 years, and they have three boys, Treyce, Carter and Cade.
“My family and I are excited about this new opportunity and have felt overwhelmed by the hospitality shown by everyone,” said Orr. “Wallace Community Church is passionate about loving Jesus and making Jesus’ love known.”
The new congregation, that began meeting in January of 2012, is all about being in a relationship with Jesus, said Orr, committed to His word, growing together in Christ and being on mission for God in the community and around the world.
