Students representing Wallace School competed at the District Speech competition held at Wauneta-Palisade on March 14.
Students receiving Superior certificates were Taylor Nielson for Persuasive Speaking, Sarah Banks for Poetry, and Alissa Rosentrater and Paige Aylward in Serious Prose.
Students receiving medals included: Tanner Clough, Dillon Koop, Alexandria Lundvall, John Marquardt, and Landon Swedberg first place OID qualifying for State Speech; Emma Franklin, Chance Kennicutt, and Morgan Messersmith sixth place OID; the duet team of Rachel Marquardt and Alexandria Lundvall received third place to qualify for State Speech.
Jaclyn Nelson brought home the third place Persuasive to qualify for State Speech and fourth place Informative medal. Mickayla Sheets received the fifth place medal for Informative. Competing in Extemporaneous were Chance Kennicutt receiving fifth place and Emma Franklin receiving first place to qualify for State Speech. Jackson Porter was awarded the fifth place medal in Entertainment Finals. Katelyn Melton received fourth place in Poetry. In Humorous Prose, Collin Swedberg received fifth place and Rachel Marquardt qualified for State Speech with her second place finish.  
Overall the team placed second and was awarded the District Runner-up plaque.
The Wallace Speech Team will compete on Friday, March 22, at the State Speech competition held in Kearney.
