Please allow me to share a concern for the next generation, specifically, that they may not survive us to carry on. My fear is that one or more will be hit as they are leaving the grade school or crossing Central Avenue in Grant.
I moved here from West Point, Neb. where a family in my church lost a daughter to a truck as she crossed the highway that came through town. I pray that never happens here !
Now that the weather is becoming more favorable to walking again, this fear is gaining reality. My thanks goes out to those who have volunteered to help our kids cross Central at the beginning of the school year. It seems as though these volunteers will need the help of other civic-minded groups in Perkins County to assure the safety of our children. Could you help kids cross the street ?
My hope is that there will someday be a crosswalk with crossing guards in front of our grade school, and that the good folks of The Grant Tribune/Sentinel and Pinnacle Bank will receive our support to protect our children.
Thank you for driving with care.
