FFA members attend state PDF Print E-mail

The Perkins County FFA attended the State FFA Convention in Lincoln, on April 3-5. Almost 40 FFA members from our chapter were in attendance for the three day convention.
Students competed in competitions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and were very successful. In Leadership Skills Events each event features the top 24 speakers in the state. Tayler Walter received a fourth place gold medal for Cooperative Speaking. Courtney Ostermiller received a bronze medal for Cooperative Speaking. Jakelynn Broeder received a silver medal for Extemporaneous Speaking.
In Career Development Events over 140 chapters are represented at state. Rebecca Cornelius, Rachel Patrick, and Brady Mailand received ninth place as a team in Ag Communications. Rebecca received second place and Brady received fourth place individually.
The Ag Mechanics team of Zak Kurkowski, Brady Mailand, Kaleb Vak, and Robert Engel received seventh place with Zak receiving seventh place and Brady receiving 11th place individually.
In the competition of Agriscience, Emily Kemling and Brandie Ross were awarded a red ribbon and Amanda Reichert was awarded a white ribbon.
Alex Malmkar earned a purple ribbon (30th/255 students) in Agronomy and a white ribbon in Farm Management. Rebecca Cornelius also received a white ribbon in livestock judging.
On Thursday afternoon the Perkins County FFA presented the FFA New Chapter Memorial Scholarship in memory of Katie Rowley and Michael Dreiling to the Chambers FFA Chapter. They also presented the Perkins County Leadership Workshop “Lead By Example” on Friday morning to over 140 FFA members from other chapters.
