Sixth graders raise $4,000 for St. Jude PDF Print E-mail

Sixth graders at Perkins County Middle School raised 4,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a mathathon held in February.
The students went around town and asked for donations or pledges per problem in math fun books that had approximately 120 math problems that the students had to solve.
Each problem that was missed had to be corrected, said sixth grade teacher Shayne Hite.
Every student received a t-shirt prize for raising at least $35.
Depending on how much more they raised, students could receive additional prizes.
The highest fundraisers were Jaden Dietlein and Emma Schrotberger who both raised over $500.
The class raised enough funds for three chemo treatments or one day’s stay for a patient at the hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
