Each year the National Daughters of the American Revolution honors young people from across the country for qualities of good citizenship, specifically dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities.
Winners of the Good Citizen award are chosen by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate those qualities to an outstanding degree.
The Sioux Lookout North Platte Chapter of the DAR has announced its winners for 2013.
They are: Rachel Marquardt, Wallace Public School. The daughter of Kelly and Jennifer Marquardt, Rachel is active in volleyball, basketball, FCCLA, student council, band, chorus, drama and speech. She is also a class officer.
Jessica Hoffert, Perkins County High School. The daughter of Dave and Janet Hoffert, Jessica is active in FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, band, cross country, basketball and track. She is currently working part-time at Adams Bank & Trust.
Joshua Connell, Hershey High School. The son of Wayne and Diana Connell, Joshua has been involved in football, basketball, track, drama, American Legion baseball and student council. He will report to basic training on June 11, 2013, for the U.S. Air Force.
Sean Keenan, St. Patrick’s High School. The son of Pat and Kathleen Keenan, Sean is an honor roll student who has participated in football, basketball, track, golf, band, knowledge masters and Quiz Bowl. He is a member of National Honor Society and the Letter Club. He has participated in drama, mock trial and is active in Rotary-Interact and taught Spanish to grade-school students. Ranked first in his class, Keenan plans to pursue a career in business.
Shelbi Burke, Sutherland Public Schools. The daughter of Shawn and Becky Burke, Shelbi has made the honor roll for her entire academic career. She has been active in cross country, basketball, track, Buddy Program, Science Club, Quiz Bowl, dance team, show choir, choir, band, one-act plays, speech and National Honor Society. She plans to attend college and major in music education.
Brady Rosenblad, Maxwell Public Schools. The son of Jeff and Carol Rosenblad, Brady has been active in FCCLA throughout his academic career and is currently president of the Maxwell chapter. He is an honor roll student and is active in football, basketball and track. He is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in speech and drama. He is active in Boy Scouts, having earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Carrick Perlinger, Paxton Consolidated Schools. The son of Mark and Debbie Perlinger, Carrick is an honor roll student and is active in student council and National Honor Society. He participated in football, basketball and track, served as president of his senior class, is in 4-H and FFA and has coached pee wee baseball. He also was in Quiz Bowl, Future Problem Solvers, speech and drama and is a member of Future Business Leaders of America and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Ciara Voycheske, Ogallala Public Schools. The daughter of Bart and Karma Voycheske, Ciara has participated in volleyball, basketball and track. She is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society and is active in Banning Underage Drinking and Future Business Leaders of America. Ciara plans to earn a degree in exercise science.
