Junior high team is runner up at Gothenburg PDF Print E-mail

 

Five Perkins County Junior High tracksters participated in the 2013 Gothenburg Junior High State Qualifying Meet May 11.  Athletes are invited to the meet on times and performances posted on the Athletic.net website.  
After being invited, athletes can enter the meet and participate along with junior high athletes who qualify.  It has become a very competitive track meet with top performers in final events.  
These five Perkins County boys earned enough points to be awarded the runner-up plaque.  Morrill won the event.  
The team was led by Derek Sis, who won the triple jump with a 40’-2” jump, first place in the 100 meter with a time of 11.7, and second place in the 200 meter with a 28.84 time.
Derek has set school records in all three events this season.  
Cody Williams posted a personal record in the 200 meter hurdles, but didn’t place.          Charles Johnson was the top seventh grader in the triple jump, but didn’t place.
The 400 meter relay team consisting of Bailey Schrotberger, Kiffen Cook, Cody Williams, and Derek Sis placed third in the relay with a school record performance of 48.34.
Assistant Coach Steve Snyder accompanied and provided the leadership for the day.
