Driver charged with vehicular manslaughter PDF Print E-mail

Casey Rey Lake, 19, of Grant has been charged with negligent vehicular manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Emma Redinger, daughter of Bill and Lee Redinger of Ogallala.
Redinger was the passenger in a car driven by Lake who lost control and rolled several times in the ditch along Interstate 80 near Hershey on March 16. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the 2007 Pontiac four-door driven by Lake was traveling over 100 miles an hour around 12:35 a.m. when it left the road and rolled three miles east of Hershey.
Alcohol was a factor, said investigators.
Both young women were transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center. Lake, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was airlifted to a medical facility in Denver with life-threatening injuries. Redinger was wearing a seatbelt.
Lake turned herself in and was arrested on May 7. She immediately posted 10 percent of a $50,000 bond and was released.
Prosecuting the case is Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling. Defense attorney is Stephen Potter.
