Elsie photographer featured during June
The Perkins County Area Arts Council welcomes the talents of Elsie photographer Nora Jameson to Meadowlark Gallery this month.
An open house will be held in her honor on Sunday, June 9 from 1-3 p.m.
Jameson grew up on a small farm in west central Wisconsin with three brothers. She attended Cadott Public Schools and studied sociology at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. From there she traveled to North Platte, where she was employed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church as director of Christian education and youth work.
She met Elsie native Rory Jameson and they were married Oct. 9, 1983. They moved to rural Elsie and raised four children, Ella, Robert, Ilene and Morgan.
Nora has enjoyed photography all her life, picking up tips along the way from photography magazines and books and photography classes.
Her favorite subject is sports. She has captured action photos of Wallace junior high and high school athletes for several years.
“You have to be on your toes, and get what you can get,” she said.
She also takes senior pictures, engagements, weddings and special occasions.
Next on the gallery schedule will be paintings by Tristan Gorgen.
Visit Meadowlark Gallery on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8 p.m. from March-November and check the arts council’s Facebook page for past shows and a current gallery schedule.
The gallery is operated by the Perkins County Area Arts Council, who meets the second Thursday of each month, 7 p.m. at the gallery.
The meetings are open to the public.
