McCook college hires Grant native as VP PDF Print E-mail

Andrew “Andy” Long has accepted the position of Vice President of McCook Community College. He currently serves as the Area Dean of Enrollment Management for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.
Long was born and raised in Grant and spent several years teaching and coaching in Cozad and Big Springs prior to his current position.
“Based on the high number of applicants, it’s clear to me that the vice-president job in McCook and the reputation of the college made it attractive to a number of qualified applicants, but it also made our selection process more difficult,” said MPCC President Ryan Purdy.
“I want to especially thank the committee for their commitment, tenacity and diligence in our search to fill this very important position. The process took longer than we anticipated, but we were committed to finding the right person for this position and in my conversations with Andy, I am convinced that we selected the right person.”
Long plans to assume his new duties on July 8 and hopes to have his family in McCook this summer.
“I know everyone in the region will extend a warm welcome to Andy and his family and make the transition to McCook as easy as possible,” Purdy said.
