All because He loves us

By Pastor Lance Heitman
Abundant Life Church, Grant

God loves you. GOD LOVES YOU! Why? Why would the creator of the universe, heaven, earth, everything, waste his time to even like, let alone love the likes of you and me? Because we are his family. He created Adam and Eve, gave them dominion over the whole earth, told them to replenish and subdue it. That was his family and he loved them.
When Adam and Eve sinned they gave that dominion to Satan. From that point on the Bible is a love story of a father trying to get back his family.
John 10:1 says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth in not by the door to the sheep fold, but climbeth up some other way, is a thief and a robber.”
We know that the robber is the devil, but what is the door? The door is to be born of a woman.  God can’t do whatever He wants. Numbers 23:19 states, “God is not a man, that He should lie; neither son of man that He should repent: hath He said, and shall he not do it? Or hath He not spoken, and shall He not make it good?”
God can’t lie. If God were to do something that was against what was in the Bible, something He had spoken He would be breaking his own commandment. Thou shall not lie. That is why Jesus had to be born of a woman. A man gave it away and a man had to get it back. God gave dominion over the entire earth to Adam (mankind). He in return through disobedience gave the earth to Satan.
Satan stole the earth from Adam, but God couldn’t just take it back legally because he wasn’t a man, that would have been going back on his word, Genesis 1: 26-28. He gave it to Adam and Adam squandered it away, but God had a plan.
First he found a man (Abraham) who would teach his children about his heavenly Father. Then he found a virgin (Mary) who would be impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Then he had to find a man (Joseph) who would marry a pregnant virgin. Then he had to protect them from being killed by the devil, until Jesus could live a sinless life, worthy to be offered up on the cross. He was the only one that could have met all the requirements of the High Court of Heaven.
Why would God spend 4,000 years to make this happen, make Jesus die that awful death on the cross, go to Hell for three days, for the likes of you and me? Because he loves us! And he wants us to spend eternity with him (John 3:16).
