Wheat harvest for this year finally near end PDF Print E-mail

“Wheat harvest is a very big disappointment,” said Gary Talich, Frenchman Valley Co-op’s general manager in Grant.
Harvest was near the end last weekend, but moisture delayed the finishing touches again, and at this point, who knows when it will finally wrap up, said Talich.
Talich said overall it was not a good harvest, and guessed that volume-wise it was 50 percent of what is considered normal. As far as yield, it averaged maybe 25 bushels, maybe lower.
Grant and the surrounding area was fortunate enough to receive some much needed rainfall over the last few weeks. However, some parts of Perkins were not very lucky, said Talich, such as areas southwest of Grant and southeast of Elsie which had not received moisture.
