Descendents of Walter and Laura Wheeler gathered Aug. 2-4 for a family reunion.
A catered meal and time of sharing memories were enjoyed at the Wauneta Senior Center on Friday evening.
On Saturday the family gathered at the Wesley and Marjorie Wheeler farm. Wesley is the only surviving child of Walter and Laura’s 11 children.
Many activities were enjoyed including cooking Ziplock omelets, horseback riding, 4-wheeler rides, and a hay rack ride into the family canyon. Some traveled to the Chase County Museum in Champion. Many of the museum items held special interest as they have ties to the Wheeler family members.
Saturday evening the group gathered in the canyon on the Wheeler home farm for a pot luck supper, zipline fun, a scavenger hunt, vespers. Some of the younger generation enjoyed camping out overnight under the stars.
