Work began last week on the corner of 4th and Central to give Pinnacle Bank of Grant a new image.
“Maintenance” is what the bank’s president, Rod Cornelius, called the project which will be completed by Thanksgiving.
The new facelift the bank is receiving includes curb and gutter work, a new heating/air conditioning system, new roof, and new concrete in the parking lot.
An additional feature to the update will include a canopy over the drive-up window and ATM area along the south side of the bank—these areas will remain the same. Sunlight makes it hard to view the screen on the ATM machine, said Cornelius. The shade provided by a new canopy will also make it easier for bank employees to view and interact with customers in the drive-through.
Two trees along the sidewalk on the west side of the bank were torn out last week in the process, but Cornelius assures the public that the bank will plant replacement trees somewhere within city limits to make up for it. Grant has been designated a Tree City USA for nearly 18 years and prides itself as such.
The facelift of the building will take place on the west side to modernize the look of the main street structure which was built in 1973.
“We want to have a building in the community that the community is proud of,” said Cornelius. “This is to improve the overall appearance.”
Cornelius has been president of the bank in Grant for eight years. He began his career in 1997, first serving the local Pinnacle Bank, then became president of the bank in Ogallala for three years, and is now back in Grant.
Pinnacle Bank History
Formally known today as Pinnacle Bancorp, Inc., there are 130 locations in eight states.
In 1938 George Dinsdale, a farmer and cattle feeder, along with some friends, decided there was a need for a bank in Palmer, Neb., as the Great Depression had taken its toll on banking services in the small town north of Grand Island.
In the late 1950s Dinsdale’s sons started acquiring other banks in Nebraska communities.
Now in its third generation of Dinsdales, Pinnacle Bancorp Inc., which has assets of $7.6 billion, is a bank holding company with four charters, including Pinnacle Bank of Nebraska, Pinnacle Bank Wyoming, Pinnacle Bank Texas and Bank of Colorado.
