Trinity Lutheran Church to host mission speaker, potluck PDF Print E-mail

Gary Thies, Mission Development Counselor for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, will speak on his church’s mission efforts during a presentation at Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Ogallala on Sunday, Sept. 8.
​Thies will speak at the 8:45 a.m. Bible study and 10 a.m. worship service at Trinity Lutheran Church located eight miles north of Grant and one mile west or 10 miles south of Ogallala and one mile west. A potluck dinner provided by Trinity members will follow. The public is invited to this event.
​Thies, an Iowa native, will focus his discussion and multi-media presentation on mission efforts of Pastor Peter Haugen and family of Indiana called to Papua, New Guinea and also Missionary Philip Jaseph of Maryland serving in Kenya of East Africa. Offerings of the day will support these missionaries.
​Thies will also discuss efforts of missionaries in numerous other countries. He recently returned from a trip to Russia, Kazakhstan and several other eastern European countries.
​Born and raised on a farm near Mapleton, Iowa, Thies has spent 33 years in the banking, real estate and insurance industry. He brings an entirely new vision as a layman, having traveled to some 76 countries. Thies will present an unusual message of what is taking place in the mission division of the Lutheran Church. He has made presentations in more than 1400 churches throughout the United States.
​The message of Gary Thies has an impact on the lives of his audience, emphasizing that God does call people from all walks of life and that God does have a plan for each and every person.
