October is Nebraska State College System Month PDF Print E-mail

Gov. Dave Heineman has proclaimed the month of October as Nebraska State College System (NSCS) Month and encouraged students and their parents to visit Nebraska’s State Colleges.
Presenting the proclamation, Gov. Heineman praised the work of the Nebraska State Colleges for reducing the number of credit hours required for graduation to 120 semester credits for most degree programs, thereby reducing the time to it takes to earn a baccalaureate degree.
“It is important for high school graduates to continue their education,” said Heineman. “Students today need more than a high school diploma and the state colleges provide a wide-range of degree options.”
NSCS Chancellor Stan Carpenter said, “Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges are colleges of opportunity and with the support of the governor and the legislature, the state colleges were able to freeze tuition rates for two years.
“Students returning to one of the state colleges this year are paying the same tuition as they did last year and will pay the same tuition next year.”
Carpenter also thanked Gov. Heineman for his support of dual enrollment and for his leadership of the P-16 Initiative.
During October, students will be eligible to win a new iPad or an $800 bookstore gift certificate if they visit one of the state college campuses, take a tour, apply for admission and enroll at Chadron, Peru or Wayne State College Fall semester 2014. Each college will award one gift certificate and one iPad.
Campus tours can be scheduled through the admissions office at each of the college via phone or web at:
Chadron State: 800-242-3766 or www.csc.edu/admissions
Peru State: 800-743-4412 or www.peru.edu/admissions
Wayne State: 866-972-2287 or www.wsc.edu/admissions
Combined, the three Colleges offer more than 200 degree, certificate and pre-professional programs that are accessible on the campuses, via the Internet and in several locations throughout the state.
