After a long absence of having a fly-in at the Grant Municipal Airport, the Saturday, Sept. 28 event was considered a huge success by organizers.
“I am thrilled with the outcome of the event. It was a great day,” Dana Harris, airport manager, said. “It went better than I could have hoped.”
Approximately 275 people were fed at the free lunch with estimates of attendance being around 350 people.
The Young Eagles had an outstanding day with 52 youth receiving free airplane rides. At a prior event 11 youth were given free rides. Harris said the flights went an hour and 15 minutes longer than expected due to the volume of eager participants at Saturday’s event.
Thirty-nine aircraft were on display for the event.
Harris explained that plans are to have an open house every two years.
