Rebecca Cornelius of rural Madrid, a senior at Perkins County High School and the daughter of David and Robin Cornelius, has been selected as Senior of the Month for October.
With her rural roots, Rebeccas has been active in 4-H and ag-related activities in school, and has the goal of returning to Perkins County once she graduates from college.
Rebecca has been a participant in FFA for four years, holding several offices, and receiving several awards.
She has been included in student council and National Honor Society.
She participated in cross country, track and has been a manager for the boys basketball team.
Speech, drama, and vocal and instrumental music activities were also on the agenda for the busy senior.
She held the office of president of her class as a freshman.
In the community, Rebecca has been active in Zion youth group, FCA, Perkins County Youth Council, 4-H Council, community play, the Cattlemen’s Ball, as a tutor at the elementary school, blood drive, Sunday School and Bible School.
She has been employed at the family farm, Poppe’s Posies, Madrid Family Haircare, Burge Family Farms and has been a babysitter.
After high school graduation, Rebecca plans to attend a four-year college to become an ag ed instructor and special ed teacher.
For being selected Senior of the Month, Rebecca’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and she will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
