Overtime win gives Grant berth in championship game

Participants at the first Trick-or-Trot were invited to dress up in their Halloween finest. The event attracted approximately 130 participants. Proceeds from the event, sponsored by the Perkins County High school senior class and Image Total Fitness, raised over $1,800 for the Michael Dreiling and Katie Rowley memorial scholarship fund.

After a decade of service to Grant Public Schools as a custodian, Darrell Werner took another position in Omaha to be closer to his wife, Joyce, who retired from teaching and took a position with Special Olympics of Nebraska. Darrell had a hand in changes too numerous to count. His skillfulness and devotion in improving the building extended from one end to the other.

The Plainsmen advanced to the State C-2 Football Championship game by defeating Hastings St. Cecilia 27-21 in overtime. The victory was the result of a tenacious defense that rose to the occasion against a stubborn St. Cecilia team that refused to lose. Trent Patrick made a sensational interception in overtime to give Grant the victory.

Gauger’s Store celebrated the completion of a remodeling project and big sale and invitation to visit the new store. Gauger’s store started serving the community in 1936 and modernized and enlarged their facilities several times to maintain its standard of quality service. They made a continuous effort to offer quality foods and merchandise that would satisfy its most demanding customers.
