Young Plainsmen wrestling squad gaining experience this season
By Tim Linscott
More with less is what the Perkins County wrestling squad is facing this year...more wrestlers, less experience than some years.
Head Coach Dean Friedel has nine wrestlers out this year with two returning letter winners, Brennan Toner and Garrett Toner.
“The wrestlers are working hard. We have a young squad lacking experience but they are working hard and we hope to improve with each tournament,” Friedel said.
The season kicked off today (Dec. 5) at Southern Valley and continues Saturday at Broken Bow.
The Plainsmen will stay busy with four events in 10 days, including hosting Garden County on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.
The second home encounter for PCS is on Jan. 14 for a JV invite.
State will be in Omaha Feb. 20-22 and Friedel hopes to get some wrestlers to ‘the big show.’
