Perkins County boys basketball squad is young this year, with only one player having significant varsity minutes.
Head Coach Shawn Cole feels this could be an advantage for his squad.
“We are going to be a young team this season. This can also be good for us. Some teams might overlook us because of our youth. There could be a couple of teams that are not ready for us,” Cole said.
There are 16 players out this season with returning letter winners Tim Johnson, Matt Sestak, Chase Miyamoto and Zak Kurkowski.
Last year the Plainsmen went 14-10.
Cole is particularly looking forward to the annual PCS holiday tournament on Jan. 2-3, 2014.
“We are always looking forward to our holiday tournament and SPVA tournament. Good basketball with competitive games,” Cole said.
Cole wants his squad to get better each day and a positive he’s seen thus far is the team is willing to learn and work hard.
“These are two things that we must have to get better this season,” Cole said.
