New phone services at courthouse PDF Print E-mail

Citizens needing to do business by telephone with offices in the Perkins County Courthouse will need to dial new telephone numbers beginning Wednesday morning, Dec. 4, 2013.
The Perkins County Courthouse is changing telephone numbers to all offices after the courthouse closes for business at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3.
“The phone numbers are changing in conjunction with a planned phone system upgrade for the entire courthouse,” said Sheriff and E-911 Administrator Jim Brueggeman.  “The current phone system which operates on aging courthouse wiring and consists of each office having its own phone numbers and a variety of telephone types is outdated, inefficient, and no longer a viable way of conducting county business in the 21st century.”
The Perkins County Sheriff’s Office upgraded its administrative telephone system in June to improve telephony compatibility with the county 911 system while emergency management and emergency operations center phones were added to the new system in September.   Since September new computer wiring to support the remainder of the courthouse offices was installed throughout the courthouse upon approval of the Perkins County Board of Commissioners.
The new telephone system will use a digital telephone circuit with improved capabilities and voice quality.  The new circuit, which contains a consecutive block of telephone numbers, provides a uniform approach to assigning telephone numbers throughout the courthouse and is anticipated to save the county money on its monthly telephone services costs.
By calling a courthouse offices new telephone number callers will be connected to that office.  From there, callers can be transferred to an individual within the office or elsewhere throughout the courthouse for assistance.  In the event an office is busy and unable to take a call there will be an option for callers to leave a voicemail and have their call returned to them.
Offices can be reached by calling the following: County Sheriff Dispatch 352-7500, County Sheriff Administration 352-7501, Maintenance 352-7509, Emergency Management 352-7520, County Court 352-7530, County Assessor 352-7540, Planning & Zoning 352-7548, County Attorney 352-7550, County Clerk / District Court 352-7560, County Treasurer 352-7570, Driver Examiner 352-7559, Extension Office 352-7580, Veterans Services 352-7590, Road/Weed Superintendent 352-7599.
Telephone calls placed to old courthouse telephone numbers will be forwarded to the new courthouse telephone numbers for one year then be permanently taken out of service.
The new courthouse telephone numbers will be posted on the county website at, available on reference cards that can be picked up at the courthouse beginning December 6th, and published in the next edition of the telephone directory.
Perkins County Sheriff and E-911 Administrator Jim Brueggeman served as project manager for the courthouse telephone upgrade while project vendors were Great Plains Communications of Blair, Nebraska and CenturyLink of Monroe, Louisiana.
