Wildcats at PCS tournament
Wallace Lady Wildcats added two games to their schedule this year with the Perkins County Holiday tournament on Jan. 2-3.
On Jan. 2 the Wildcats fell to the Cambridge Trojans, 45-30. On Jan. 3, the Wallace team lost to Perkins County, 42-34.
Coach Shannon Messersmith commented, “As we approach the second half of the season, we are excited about improvement. We are steadily getting better.”
She added, “Also I am proud of our effort, the girls have been working extremely hard. This season we have some girls playing in positions they have never played before and I think we are finally getting comfortable with what we are trying to do. Some of the things we will continue to work on are shooting percentages and limiting the amount of turnovers.”
In the game against Cambridge, Christina Daniels led Wallace in scoring with 20 points. Adding to the total were Hayley Storm-3, Maggie-3, Alex Lundvall-2, and Morgan Messersmith-2.
Defensively, Daniels pulled down 6 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.
The consolation game against Perkins County showed Daniels leading the Wildcats again on the scoreboard with 19 points. Contributing to the scoring effort were Morgan Messersmith-4, Sara Hubbard-4, Hayley Storm-3, Maggie May-3, and Paige Aylward-1.
On the other end of the court, Daniels grabbed seven rebounds while teammate Hubbard earned six.
The Lady Wildcats will host Arthur County at home on Friday.
